Microneedling

Juniper Dermatology offers microneedling as an option for treating acne scars and wrinkles. This is a relatively quick procedure that can be performed in approximately one hour for a full face. There is very little down time and patients can typically go back to their regular skin care routines the very next day. For enhanced outcomes, microneedling can even be combined with other treatments, like PRP which uses your own plasma to reduce healing time and enhance skin rejuvenation.

How Microneedling Works

Microneedling improves skin tone and texture by stimulating the body’s natural healing response. Small needles create tiny puncture wounds in the skin, which causes your body to repair itself, stimulating new collagen production. Microneedling requires a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimum results as the body slowly regenerates collagen and elastin in the treatment area. Each full face treatment lasts about 1 hour.

The Eclipse EVO MicroPen has adjustable settings which allow your provider to adjust and customize the procedure to your comfort level, as well as your more troublesome areas, like deep wrinkles or acne scars.

In addition to stimulating the body’s healing response, the micro channels created by the MicroPen allow for the penetration of serums and other skin care products. The needles will push the serum deeper into the skin as the puncture wounds are created, which aids the serum ingredients to penetrate deeper.

In addition, PRP may be applied to the skin after treatment to boost the healing process and production of new, healthy skin. The micro channels created by microneedling will make it much easier for the PRP to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, where collagen and elastin fibers form.

What the MicroPen Treats

MicroPen microneedling has many benefits that can improve the appearance of your skin with regular treatment.  MicroPen treatments will improve skin texture, reduce rough spots, increase skin elasticity and give the skin an overall smoother look. However, this procedure can also address more specific skin problems, like acne scars and etched lines and wrinkles. Because of its versatility, the MicroPen can be used on all parts of the body and on all skintypes, light or dark.

Recovery Time

Recovery after a MicroPen treatment is relatively short, with most redness and discomfort subsiding within 24-48 hours. Most individuals are able to resume their regular skin care and makeup routine the very next day.
